199 East Lake Shore Drive, located in Chicago's Gold Coast faces Lake Michigan and Oak Street Beach.  The building is a historic landmark originally constructed of clay-tile arch, a very durable material but difficult to penetrate.  To modernize and update lighting or mechanical heating and cooling systems required design expertise.  DRA LLC approached the design Universally, removing barriers to access like steps and varying floor finish heights at thresholds that might limit the owners as they age gracefully in-place. The Master Bathroom is fully accessible and barrier free.  Custom sound-barriers were created to enhance enjoyment of audio visual  systems.  DRA LLC provided relocation assistance, selecting from the owners' exising antique furniture collection and artwork while adding new, modern finishes and furniture selections with custom-millwork and custom-fabricated furniture designed specifically to enhance and tie together the modern and the historic nature of the existing landmark.
